Building Plans and Volunteer calendar now online!

Interested in how the Faith for Fifty home will look? Check out the building plans now available online. See links on the right. The Volunteer calendar schedule is also available.

Now, you know what they say, "If you don't like the weather, wait 10 minutes and it will change". We're hoping for a string of beautiful days for the blitz build, but if the weather changes, the construction schedule might change to. We'll do our best to update the schedule.

Happy Labor Day weekend!

Groundbreaking and Meeting Re-Cap

"I just want to thank Habitat and everyone here for making this possible."- Joe Cool on his family becoming a Habitat partner.

The ground was blessed, the shovels were distributed, and the Faith for Fifty build has begun. Soon, the slab foundation will be poured and framing will begin. To see more photos of the groundbreaking, click here.

Churches taking part in this build will soon be receiving packets with sign up sheets for volunteers, and volunteer information. Some of the information is available on this page in .pdf format.

Pocket change will change lives!

First United Methodist is supporting Faith for Fifty in an easy and generous way this summer: pocket change from parishioners will help build the Faith for Fifty home, giving a local family a more loving and stable future. From the bulletin:

FILL THE HOUSE!

Starting on Sunday, June 23, there will be a Plexiglas house in the Narthex. Throughout July and August we are invited to that house with our loose pocket change (although dollar bills will fit through the slot also!). The proceeds of filling this house will go to the Iowa Valley Habit For Humanity "Faith For Fifty" build which will be starting in September. This will mark the 50th home that the Iowa Valley Habit For Humanity has started and we will be joining with other area churches in supporting this build. Our goal is to raise $2000 to contribute to the overall cost of $70,000. So, throughout the summer, please add your loose pocket change to the house and FILL THE HOUSE!

Faith for Fifty planners meet

A number of people in our community are participating in the Faith for Fifty planning sessions. We've typically holding them on Tuesday or Wednesday at 4:45 pm and limit them to an hour - that seems to work out best. We meet at the Iowa City-Coralville Visitors Center on 1st Avenue in Coralville.

Please join one of our sessions! Our next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, June 20th. Come join us.
